Friends of the National Asian Pacific American Museum (“FRIENDS”), the independent nonprofit established to support the congressional exploration, authorization, establishment, design, and construction of a new, national APA museum, announced two new appointments to its leadership team.

WASHINGTON, DC –The Friends of the National Asian Pacific American Museum (“Friends”) hosted an event on Capitol Hill on June 13, 2023, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of a historic law that established the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture and launched its Task Force on Asian Pacific American History and Culture.

The Friends of the National Asian Pacific American Museum congratulates Dr. Jay Jie Xu, San Francisco, California, and Mr. Dennis Cheng, New York, New York, on their monumental appointments by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture, as required by H.R. 3525 (P.L. 117-140).

The Friends of the National Asian Pacific American Museum today launched as a not-for-profit organization to mobilize support across the United States for a permanent Smithsonian national museum dedicated to the vast contributions ofAsian Pacific Americans to building and strengthening our nation.
